Muerte: Lady of the Dead is a narrative feature film rooted in Mesoamerican mythology and set in Juchitlán, Jalisco. Carlos is a Chicano film student who travels to his family's hometown to document Día de los Muertos alongside his twin sister Frida, the one person who never forgot where they came from. What begins as a documentary becomes something older and far more dangerous. A story about severed roots, divine inheritance, and what happens when a people forgets their gods. And what happens when the gods remember them.
